One thing on my holiday checklist is getting new ornaments for the kids every year.

My parents are building a house this year so I got them these cute ornaments as a memory!

DETAILS: HOLIDAY ONESIE PAJAMAS (UNDER $20) | HOLIDAY PAJAMA SET (UNDER $20) | REINDEER SLIPPERS | HOUSE ORNAMENT SET | COKE CAN ORNAMENT (ALSO LOVE THIS BOTTLE VERSION)

When I was a kid, my stepmom would always get me a new ornament every Christmas – something to represent my year, big milestones, hobbies, or whatever I was into at that point. We’ve continued the same tradition with our kids – both with new ornaments and painting/DIY our own ornaments. We dress up in matching holiday PJs and put up the trees. We have a tree we set up in the living room and then another kids’ tree with all the ornaments we’ve made and collected throughout the years and every year it’s like a walk down memory lane! My hope is when the kids grow up and have families of their own I’ll give them a special box of all their ornaments through the years. I will always treasure traditions passed down from generation to generation, but also love trying out new activities, so I wanted to put together a list of some holiday checklist with tradition ideas, old and new:

  1. Decorate for the holidays
  2. Buy/make new Christmas ornaments
  3. Curl up with Christmas books
  4. Teach the kids to ski/ski trip
  5. Explore some hot springs
  6. Go night-sledding
  7. Make cinnamon rolls
  8. Gingerbread houses
  9. Make/paint Christmas mugs (great gift idea!)
  10. Have a wrapping party
  11. Rent a cabin in the mountains
  12. Build a fort & watch Christmas movies
  13. Advent calendars
  14. Make & deliver neighbor gifts
  15. Try snow-shoeing
  16. Take family Christmas pictures
  17. Make a holiday playlist, hot cocoa, & go on a lights-seeing tour to look at Christmas lights
  18. Give back (donating, service projects, etc.)
  19. Write letters to Santa Claus
  20. Set up Zooms or FaceTime family that live far away
  21. Bake & decorate Christmas cookies together
  22. Set out gifts for the delivery drivers
  23. Random acts of kindness

Mrs. Claus (me) is busy trying to get the shopping done, house decorated, and all of the other wonderful things all while working full time as a teacher and doing the normal household/family stuff. It’s exhausting but I love it!

    1. Omg I can only imagine how hectic that is! So amazing you can keep a good attitude while juggling it all!
