Nothing can make your skin softer than ridding it of dead cells. You can achieve this with a great exfoliator and cleansing system. I like to exfoliate once or twice a week and use my Clarisonic the days I’m not exfoliating. I recently started using this exfoliating treatment and it absolutely lives up to its hype – I instantly noticed a difference. Here are the best tips I have found for using facial exfoliators:

  • After cleansing, apply an exfoliator in circular motions – keep pressure light to avoid wreaking havoc on your delicate skin.
  • You’ve probably heard a dozen different opinions on when to exfoliate and there is a simple explanation – it depends! Once a week is a safe place to start.

After exfoliating I use a soft toner to cleanse my face. I use this toner every night after I wash my face before I apply a nightly serum and moisturize (just started using this I love!). Moisturizing is a crucial step in your nightly routine. This is what allows your skin to rejuvenate at night.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so make sure to include a lip exfoliator in your skin care routine for a perfectly soft pout. Face scrubs and other abrasive exfoliators can do more harm than good on the thin layers of skin on your lips so you’ll definitely want to invest in one specifically designed for lips. I have forever loved this lip polish. It uses natural ingredients to exfoliate (sugar crystals) and condition and always leaves my lips feeling baby soft. I’ve also heard great things about this one. Don’t forget to put a moisturizing lip treatment on after. I love this one.

Too often our skincare routines focus only on our face, but we will be living with our bodies just as long. Give some extra TLC to the rest of you with a body exfoliator.

Of course exfoliation is only part of my skincare routine. Here are a few other favroite products in my skin care routine:

Clarisonic – this is a skin care essential! It does a deep clean on your skin and you can feel an instant difference between washing your face with this verse a wash cloth.

Epionce Renewal Face Cream – lightweight cream leaves your skin soft without feeling oily or heavy.

Clinique toner – used this for years, great basic cleanser.

Shiseido cotton pads – 100% cotton and my absolute favorite. I use this to apply my toner and remove my eye makeup.

Christine

I desperately need to invest in a clarisonic! I also think a prescribed retin A treatment once or twice a week is an important step.

Best lip exfoliator I’ve ever found is also the least expensive: a simple wash cloth, a couple of times a week, over my lips. Done stamp.

To exfoliate your lips, a salesman at L’Occitane gave me the best tip ever… just use your toothbrush. As soon as you finish brushing your teeth, run your toothbrush over your lips for a few seconds. Your lips become so soft and you don’t have to worry about any extra products!

So you use your Clarisonic almost everyday? I always thought it was like exfoliating, so I only use mine twice a week. Hmm…maybe I’m doing it all wrong?

    1. Hi Islara,

I use mine about 4 times a week. Honestly sometimes I’m just too lazy but I am trying to be better at it 🙂 They are made to be used everyday but depending on your skin sometimes it can dry it out – so I would say try and see what works best for your skin type. Have a wonderful week!

I swear by Fresh Lip Treatments! They are wonderful. I’ve never used the scrub, but I’ve used this treatment, as well as the tinted lip products. AMAZING!

I always go back and forth with exfoliating – sometimes I just get lazy. But it’s true- makes a huge difference.
