I’m so excited to share some of my favorites from one of my favorite stores! One of the things I really like about Intermix is that they have a lot of my favorite designers like Self Portrait, IRO, Alexis, etc. but the pieces they carry from those designers are more of the unknown, unique pieces that you can’t find everywhere else. This Self Portrait top being one of them!! How beautiful is this top?? I seriously had a major moment when I found it!

You all know what a neutral lover I am for fall basics, but no closet is complete without some beautiful pieces that can liven up your wardrobe. Below are 4 ways to mix up your looks this fall to keep them feeling fresh and interesting.

Layers – Jackets, scarves, and sweaters are a no-brainer but layering shouldn’t end there. I added this metallic top for an unexpected peek-a-boo under the lace. Other trends that are gaining ground fast this season are layering pieces under your fall dresses, whether it’s a simple tee or blouse or your favorite denim or wide-leg trousers.

Statements – The only differences between a wardrobe full of basics and a basic wardrobe are statement pieces. Instead of overwhelming your look, it will just add interesting details that are easily balanced out with your fall staples. I’m a sucker for ruffles and lace, and even more so when they are together so I was obsessed with this top as soon as I found it. The ruffled sleeves are such a pretty detail and it’s the perfect top to liven up your leather jacket and jeans combo. I also got this dress from Intermix (they always have the best statement pieces!) Every girl deserve to have a statement dress hanging in her closet. Also love this one.

Color – This is coming from a person whose closet has more neutrals than not, but every fall wardrobe deserves some color! For a sophisticated look, you can make it monochromatic or stick to the different shades of the same tones. (Also a great tip for transitioning your pastels this fall! Blush and burgundy are such a feminine and fresh color palette this season!) And of course you can’t go wrong with traditional fall colors. How amazing is this off-the-shoulder dress and love this flirty print mini dress.

Texture – Leather, suede, lace, and velvet: these are just a few of my favorite things for fall! When it comes to texture, more is always more – you can’t go wrong by mixing textures in your look. Velvet is one of my favorite big trend this season and I am head over heels (no pun intended 😉 for this burgundy pair. SO GOOD! Also love this ankle strap option.

Below are a few more of my favorites from Intermix  – I love how they display all their products. The looks they put together are such good inspiration!

And more of my favorite dresses right now!

As beautiful as these outfits are, I highly doubt that even one individual visiting your site for legitimate fashion advice could afford a single piece from this post. People that have the money to spend $3000+ for one outfit probably have stylists and don’t peruse fashion blogs. Hopefully you can gear more of your future posts towards people who actually live in the real world.

Very well said. I used to love Christine’s blog – great inspiration but since about the beginning of the year items have gotten more and more expensive. Now it is at a point where I could also look at a high fashion magazine…knowing I can’t even afford one piece. Good for Christine – congrats your blog seems to have taken off being super successful! Way to go!

    1. Hi Markley,

Comments aren’t deleted. When you are a new commenter from a different IP address they have to be approved first in case it’s spam 🙂 Thanks for your feedback I definetly try to mix high end and low end, earlier this week I did a post on my favorite fall buys under a $100. I will keep in mind to include more budget friendly items 🙂 Thanks! XX Christine
