With all of the upcoming holidays this season, you’re guaranteed to have more occasions to dress up for than you know what to do with. To make the most of your holiday wardrobe, it’s all about finding holiday dresses you can take from Thanksgiving dinner through your New Year celebrations.

Thanksgiving: Who doesn’t think of sitting around the table with loved ones and eating until you can’t take another bite? (I would say until the food runs out, but is that even a thing on Thanksgiving??) While you might feel right at home lounging in joggers and a baggy sweatshirt, a cozy sweater layered over a midi velvet dress can have that same homey feel with more of a polished look that’s perfect for the occasion.

Christmas: Holiday and work parties galore! I love this olive-toned velvet pleated dress – it’s the perfect way to tie in some green without going overboard. For casual Christmas parties, add a fitted turtleneck underneath for more cozy and conservative look that still shows of the pretty back and neckline. I also love this burgundy ruffled dress.

New Years: NYE is all about about making a bang – both to end the old year and welcome the new – so your outfit should match! It’s one of the best excuses of the year to take your look to a different level for the night. I love this lace and velvet dress (under $100) and how amazing is this black v-neck dress (obsessed with the back!). I also ordered this one. For a more dramatic look, add a full skirt over your dress.

Nordstrom has so many amazing holiday dresses right now – I love all the velvet this season! I’m always ordering tons or pieces to try things together and mix and match pieces so the free shipping and returns makes it really easy and helps avoid all the drama of shopping with all the kids! I also feel like whenever you try things at home it looks so much different than the store.
