Whether it’s after 5 years or 50, I firmly believe in the importance of still getting ready for your significant other. It’s easy to get comfortable after you have been married for awhile.  And hey, that’s one of the perks of being in a relationship, right? But taking a few minutes to put some effort into your appearance really pays off – for both of you. It takes your relationship back to those early days of butterflies and the anticipation. And as important as those experiences you’ve shared over time are, the attraction is equally important, if not more so.  There’s something about getting dolled up that makes an old love seem new again.
That’s not to say you have to go all out. It seems like guys generally like the more effortless looks which makes getting put together for a special night out a little easier because between a career, school, or kids, you might not have as much time to dedicate to your date night beauty routine as you used to. Sometimes even 20 minutes before a date night are hard to come by after a long day. Between wrapping up everything for work and spending as much time with B as possible before I leave for the night, I’m always running out of time to get ready. Usually I end up having to choose between spending time on makeup or hair so one of my go-to tricks is to start the night before. I usually wash my hair the night before a date night and sleep on it for a tousled look.
